The brand name El Mago (“The Wizard” in Spanish) comes from the first two letters of Fusco’s grandparents’ names, Maria and Gonzalo Torre elmagocigars.com+1. They were celebrated for their love of cigars, Cuban culture, and resilience. Maria was a master cigar roller, and Gonzalo a “master smoker” who enjoyed a cigar daily at the lobby of the James Hotel in Miami Beach Smoke Inn. The Torre family’s journey spanned five countries, from Cuba to Czechoslovakia, Canada, Venezuela, and finally Miami, where they owned the historic James Hotel for over 30 years Smoke Inn.
