The Cigar: Featuring colors of black and gold the cigar has a gaudy paper sheath over it with the primary band showing off the logo of the company. The secondary band denotes “25” with Aniversario on the side. The wrapper has some significant veins that detract from the beauty and given the price point I expected something more beautiful. In the hand the cigar is firm with no voids of tobacco and an average weight.
The Taste: The cold draw has a subtle sweetness of cocoa and raisin with notes of cedar serving as the focal point while the aroma from the foot is loaded with spice that elicits a sneeze. Once the cigar is toasted and lit there is a wonderful baking spice to the cigar pulls you in.
As we move into the first third of the Aganorsa Leaf 25th Anniversary notes of nutmeg, brown sugar begin to develop with an abundance of espresso. As the first third comes to a close espresso is the focal point with nuances of brown sugar and a long cedar finish. The retrohale ads a subtle citrus, roasted nuts and some crushed red pepper.
The second third sees the citrus appear on the palate as a secondary note while the cigar continues to serve up espresso and cedar. Around the halfway point some roasted nuts begin to develop with some dark chocolate that slowly become the focal point as the center portion of the cigar comes to a close. Additionally the citrus notes are replaced by an ever so subtle floral component. The retrohale enhances the espresso with some continued red pepper.
Moving into the final third for a couple of puffs I get a definitive marshmallow fluff that sadly leaves the building before I get to the secondary band. Notes of chocolate are dominant with espresso, brown sugar and cedar. The Aganorsa Leaf 25th Anniversary is ridiculously smooth and balanced. As the cigar gets smaller the resting aroma sees notes of black pepper causing to struggle in order not to sneeze while the retrohale sees the slightest wisp of black licorice to close things out.
